Harga Samsung Galaxy Star Terbaru Maret 2015

Samsung Galaxy Star termasuk dalam kategori ponsel kelas bawah dengan spesifikasi yang tidak terlalu wah. Ponsel ini hanya mengandalkan single core dengan kecepatan hanya 1 Ghz ditambah dengan RAM yang lumayan untuk ukuran ponsel kelas bawah yaitu 512 MB. Tentu saja target +Samsung Mobile kali ini adalah mengincar ponsel-ponsel besutan produsen China yang banyak beredar.

Berbeda jauh dengan produk terakhir yang dikeluarkan yaitu Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo, namun tetap saja didalam produk branded ada saja kelebihan yang ditonjolkan pada produk Samsung Galaxy Star ini. Salah satu yang jelas dan pasti adalah sistem operasi yang sudah menjalankan Android Jelly Bean v4.1.2. Tentunya banyak aplikasi yang sudah support dengan sistem operasi ini mengingat terakhir Samsung mengeluarkan Samsung Galaxy Young yang OS nya hanya Gingerbread.

Mungkin kebanyakan dari kita mencari produk smartphone murah yang memiliki sistem operasi Jelly Bean dikarenakan ingin menjalankan aplikasi Blackberry Messenger. Nah, Samsung Galaxy ini sudah support aplikasi BBM, namun perlu diketahui bahwa sekarang aplikasi BBM juga sudah ada lho di ponsel-ponsel ARMv6. Jadi itu artinya memang tidak diperlukan lagi versi Android yang tinggi untuk menjalankannya.

Samsung Galaxy Star

Samsung Galaxy Star memiliki ukuran relatif kecil yaitu hanya memiliki dimensi 105 x 58 x 11.9 mm dan berat 100.5 gram, sementara ukuran layar hanya 3 inchi. Tipe layar sendiri adalah TFT dengan 65 ribu warna, memang tidak bisa dibandingkan dengan Galaxy Fame atau ponsel sejenis, karena tentu saja harga menentukan bagaimana spesifikasi yang akan didapatkan pada sebuah handset.

Untuk hal multimedia sudah cukup baik, adanya kamera utama 2 MP sudah menjadi daya tarik bagi konsumen untuk melirik ponsel ini, namun lagi-lagi kekurangannya adalah tidak dibekalinya dengan kamera depan untuk kebutuhan video call. Apple iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S II drop tests

Johnny Ive of Apple talking about the iPhone 4 design stated that Apple developed "a custom glass that is comparable in strength to sapphire crystal but about 30 times harder than plastic."

Apple website also states on its website:

All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever. It’s also recyclable.

The guys at ElectronicsBreaks decided to test this by doing drop tests on a aluminosilicate glass Apple iPhone 4S and a plastic Samsung Galaxy S II with a Gorilla Glass display.

The iPhones glass may be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, but it looks like it is 20x more like to crack too and 30x more like to get shattered, too.

Next Galaxy teaser is out urges you to stand out from the sheep

As expected, Samsung just launched their Next Galaxy teaser video. At the event on May 3 in London, Samsung is expected to unveil its highly anticipated Galaxy S II successor and, reportedly, a quad-core tablet. Enough with the chit-chat, heres the video itself.

We are yet to see if Samsung will succeed in converting more users to the Galaxy cause, but its certain that the event will be the focus of everyones attention. We are also interested to see if a certain Samsung competitor, which is currently in fierce legal battle with the Koreans, will provide some kind of response to the last part of the teaser video.

Galaxy S2 Hubs

Howdy folks, its been a while since I had the time to post something new here. Ive decided to make my next post about the "Hubs" that comes with the phone. Theres four of them, namely Social Hub, Readers Hub, Music Hub and Game Hub.

Now first things first - the Music Hub, EVEN THOUGH Samsung Advertises it here in South Africa, is NOT available in "your location" as the phone puts it. So dont expect any info regarding that from me - gotta love living in a third world country hehe :)

I actually filed a ASA (Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa) complaint about that, will keep you guys posted on what they say...

EDIT: Well, it turned out that the ASA ruled in my favour, and Samsung had to remove their advertising of the music hub on their South African section of their site - click here to read up on it on My Broadband

Anyway, lets get to the hubs that actually work:

Social Hub
The Social Hub is Samsungs attempt at combining all of your social life related stuff in one place. For example, you can set it up to include your Twitter feed, Facebook feed, IM accounts, Email accounts and so on. I tried it when I first got the phone, but I wasnt very happy with the interface, I personally prefer using the dedicated apps for each one. One annoying thing was that you cannot add more than one of each type of account (unless I missed it) - I personally have two twitter accounts, and would have loved to have them both on there, but alas, you cannot.

Ill experiment some more with the Social Hub to see if its worth using or not, but it doesnt look good so far.

Readers Hub
The Readers Hub is a place where you can read newspapers and magazines on your phone. According to Samsungs website:

Game Hub
This is where you get access to what Samsung calls "Social Games" and "Premium Games" - I downloaded a free demo of Assassins Creed (a premium game), and played a few minutes and it was actually quite cool.

The only problem I can already see with the Game Hub is the fact that theres a total of only 13 premium games. Whoopdidoo!

Thats a short intro on the four hubs that Samsung has included on the phone. As I play around with them, Ill post more in depth info for each.

So far Im not that much impressed by it at all, in my honest opinion. Anyway, Im open minded, and will give them all a good try and see if they can maybe change my mind :)

How to Set a Custom Message Notification Music Ringtone on Samsung Galaxy S II

Heres a simple guide on how to set a custom ringtone to your message alerts on your Samsung Galaxy S II. If youll notice that you cant find an option to set what you desired music or tone to set it as a message notification alert.

Heres how to do it:

Connect your Samsung Galaxy S II to your computer or laptop and select "connection type" and get access to storage memory card. If you are having trouble on connection see the guide here.
Now after you have successfully connected you galaxy S II, browse to your mass storage then find the folder "Notifications", if its not on there, create a new folder and named it "Notifications".

Then grab a copy music files you wanted from your computer into that newly created folder "notifications". Once finishes, disconnect your Galaxy S II from the computer. Then you can set that music files as your message tone.

- Go back to the idle screen. Press the Home key.
- Then open the application list.
- Select Messaging.
- Then press on the Menu android-menu-key key.
- Then tap on Settings.
- Tap on the Notifications checkbox and ensure that the checkbox is checked.
- Tap on Select ringtone.
- On the popup select the ringtone you desire.

Samsung Galaxy S III comes with a PenTile matrix screen comparison

The Samsung Galaxy S III is really all about everything - the marriage of design, software features and processing power, but since you’ll look at the screen all of the time it’s mostly about the screen. The Galaxy S III has got a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. And this alone should already disappoint some of you waiting for a Super AMOLED Plus screen. Let us explain why that’s kind of a letdown.

A Super AMOLED screen is the same as the one on the Galaxy S II Galaxy Nexus and this means that it’s not using the full RGB matrix, but instead goes for the PenTile RGBG pixel arrangement. This means that effectively you get a third less subpixels, hence a slightly worse picture. Samsung obviously relies on the HD resolution of the display and the excellent contrasts of its AMOLED  technology to make up for this, but it’s clearly one area where competitors like LG might take the leading edge and capture geeks hearts.

Engadget got an early look at the handset and is bringing 230x magnified pictures showing off the subpixels and comparing the Galaxy S III display to the ones on the HTC One X, the Galaxy Nexus and then against the whole Galaxy S family. Video shows off Samsung Galaxy S III gestures

The Samsung Galaxy S III had a pretty impressive unveiling last week, and showed off quite a number of pretty nice features. It also showed off a few less than impressive features, but so it goes. Now, were getting video showing off a few phone gestures that we hadnt known about before. There are three gestures shown in the video, but we definitely like the idea and would love to see more.

The first gesture could be useful, but it didnt really work so well. By waving your hand across the screen, the phone will take a screenshot. Interestingly, although this gesture didnt work the first couple times, it did make the screen slide, so there could very well be touch-free gestures for navigation available as well. The second gesture shown is by far the most useful of the bunch. The video shows that if you are scrolling down a long list of items, like your Twitter feed perhaps, a quick double-tap on the top edge of the phone will return you to the top of the list. Scrolling on Android can be pretty fast, but the simple double-tap seems like a great solution. And, last was a gesture whereby placing your hand over the device will pause video that youre watching, including video in pop-up mode.

Definitely nice to see Samsung thinking out of the box with gesture controls.

Samsung Galaxy Gio Firmware S5660XXKPN Android 2 3 3 Gingerbread Stock ROM online!

Another Stock ROM for Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 is now available via samfirmware.com. This version is still an Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread which has a build number of S5660XXKPN and a CSC file OXXKPB with build date August 2011. This ROM is build for European version of Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 only.

This is the latest Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread available via Stock ROM and can be manually install using Odin. There are six 2.3.3 Gingerbread versions on the list including this latest S5660XXKPN build. You can check out the list below from previous Android 2.3 Gingerbread leaks and releases.
